Zac Efron would “be honoured” to play the late actor Matthew Perry on the big screen.
The ‘Greatest Showman’ star graciously responded after FRIENDS actor reportedly expressed his wish of Efron playing him in his biopic.
In a conversation with People, the actor said, “I’m honoured to hear that he was thinking of me to play him.”
During the premier of his film ‘The Iron Claw’ on Wednesday, he also said, “We’ll see. I’d be honoured to do it.”
The actor also grieved Perry’s death. He shared that he is “devastated” by his ’17 Again’ co-star’s death.
“He was a mentor to me, and we made a really cool film together,” he said. Efron added that he looked up to the late actor and also learned comedic timing from him.
In the 2009 film, Efron plays the younger version of Perry’s character, Mike O’Donnell.
Perry’s friend Athenna Crosby, who was one of the last people seen with him before he died on October 28, said that “he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version and that he was gonna ask him soon to do that,” she told Entertainment Tonight, earlier this month.
