United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says he will hold the Metropolitan Police Commissioner “accountable” for allowing a mass pro-Palestinian demonstration against Israel – Hamas war to go ahead this Saturday.
Sunak asserted that march taking place on Armistice Day would be “provocative and disrespectful.” However the PM’s pleas have been resisted by the organisers and those from the Metropolitan Police to postpone the demonstration. Sunak made his statement when he met a bunch of broadcasters during his visit to a school in Lincolnshire.
Mark Rowley, chief of Met Police, said that the rally does not meet the threshold for requesting a government order to stop it going ahead. He added that a ban would be an “incredibly rare last resort.”
