UAW union calls talks with Ford ‘reasonably productive’ as strike enters day two

The United Auto Workers on Saturday stated that they had “reasonably productive conversations” with Ford, as the workers strike against 3 big automakers entered into second day.

The union is trying to reach a deal with not only Ford, but also General Motors and Stellantis for better in the era of better profits, which is driven by transitioning gasoline powdered engines to electric vehicles.

Stellantis on Saturday stated that it has offered union a hike in wages for its workers, which shall bring their pay almost at par with its competitor. The owner of Chrysler said that the company would provide cumulative raises of nearly 21% for hourly wages, with an immediate 10% increase if a contract is ratified.

However, the offer is still far from the 36% hike the workers are demanding, along with other demands that would increase the costs of the auto companies.
