Glory Days are no more. Maggie has left Los Angeles. Cisco and Lorna are now married. Izzy has a dancing studio, thus she won’t be driving Mickey anymore. In Mickey’s life, a lot is changing. Being the defence council that he is, the viewer’s attention is drawn to the impending threat to his life that he faces in the last episode of the second season.
Fans were shocked by the conclusion of the first episode of the second season, which showed Haller being battered and held at gunpoint by a crowd of strangers. The destiny of the man was left in the viewers’ minds. Fans may breathe a sigh of relief with the start of the second chapter as Izzy quickly locates him and rushes him to the emergency room where he experiences unceasing flashbacks from his youth, revealing the origin of Mickey’s reckless behaviour.
The second season of The Fifth Witness, based on Michael Connelly’s novel of the same name, adds more depth to Mickey’s life that can only be peeled off and added to in the third season. Mickey uses unthinkable tactics to avenge his fierce, headstrong prosecutor-nemesis Andrea Freemann and fight one of his toughest legal battles only to unearth the not-so-innocent identity of his client.
According to TVInsider, The Gods of Guilty (2013), Connelly’s fifth book, will serve as the basis for The Lincoln Lawyer’s probable third season. According to GoodReads, this book’s official synopsis is as follows:
“Mickey Haller gets the text, “Call me ASAP – 187,” and the California penal code for murder immediately gets his attention. Murder cases have the highest stakes and the biggest paydays, and they always mean Haller has to be at the top of his game.
When Mickey learns that the victim was his former client, a prostitute he thought he had rescued and put on the straight and narrow path, he knows he is on the hook for this one. He soon finds out that she is back in LA and back in life. Far from saving her, Mickey may have been the one who put her in danger.
Haunted by the ghosts of his past, Mickey must work tirelessly and bring all his skill to bear on a case that could mean his ultimate redemption or proof of his ultimate guilt.”
The Netflix original retells the made-up tale of Haller, a fictitious lawyer, and the variety of cases that are given to him following a mystery murder of a fellow lawyer, followed by Haller’s recuperation from the sad event.
