One of the few instances of a game adaptation done well is The Legend of Vox Machina, which was the outcome of a Kickstarter effort started by two passionate Dungeons & Dragons fans. The first campaign of the cult-favourite web series Critical Role from 2015, when six professional voice actors got together to play Dungeons & Dragons and decided to make it into a podcast, served as the inspiration for the animated series. Latin for “voice machine,” The Legend of Vox Machina is set in the same Exandria-based fantasy setting as Critical Role, which Matthew Mercer created in 2012 for his own Dungeons & Dragons game.
The role-playing group broke Kickstarter records by raising $11.3 million for an animated adaptation, and the show went on to become widely popular and successful for its exquisitely drawn art style, quirky one-liners, mature humour, and gory battle scenes that are true to the enjoyable Dungeons & Dragons campaigns we are all too familiar with. It was picked up by Amazon Prime in 2019. Even before the second season began airing in January 2023, Amazon Prime renewed the show for a third season during the New York Comic-Con of the previous year in October 2022.

When Is The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 Coming Out?
Even though the third season of The Legend of Vox Machina was revealed before Season 2 even began, Amazon Prime has not yet provided a precise release date. Matthew Mercer, the show’s creator and voice actor, remarked at the New York Comic-Con in 2022: “The Chroma Conclave arc is a very long arc. Trying to adapt that into a single season is very daunting. We were trying desperately to figure out if that was possible. Thankfully, it’s not, and we got greenlit for season three.” This suggests that Season 3 will take a lot longer than Seasons 1 and 2, which each took a year to complete. The third season of The Legend of Vox Machina may not air until February 2024, based on the WGA strikes.
On the same day that it is revealed, The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 will make its Amazon Prime Video premiere, much like Seasons 1 and 2.
