Teen arrested and charged with murder in stabbing of 13-year-old on Staten Island bus

In the latest update for the fatal stabbing of 13-year-old boy on city bus, a 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, in Staten Island.

The suspect, who has not been named by the police, has also been charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of weapon. He remain in police custody on Saturday and it is unclear if he had a lawyer.

At a news conference on Friday, John M. Chell, chief of patrol of New York Police Department, termed the killing as “tragic, tragic homicide,” and said that the police believed it was gang-related.

Just before 2.30 pm on Friday afternoon, an argument broke out on the bus between the victim, whom the cops have identified as Syles Ular, and the suspect, said chief Chell. He added that a knife was seen and gang sign were flashes back and forth.

Syles was stabbed multiple times and was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital South, where he was pronounced dead.

The accused immediately fled the scene and ran three blocks before he was apprehended by a police officer, who had pursued him after a bystander said he had stabbed someone.
