Taraji Henson reveals firing her whole team for not capitalizing on her ‘Empire’ success

Taraji P. Henson recently in an interview with SAG-AFTRA Foundation revealed that she had fired her whole team after they failed to capitalise on her ‘Empire’ success when the show ended in 2020.

“Everybody had to f–king go,” she quipped while speaking to Angelique Jackson of Variety.

Taraji played the character Cookie Lyon for six seasons on the hit Fox drama, further explained that she thought she would have had abundant opportunities following the series’ conclusion.

To her surprise, she was severely underwhelmed.

“Where is my deal? Where’s my commercial? Cookie was at the top of the fashion game. Where is my endorsement? What did you have set up for after this?” reasoned the star.

In the interview, she continued that this is the reason why nobody has saw her in a long time, because her team did not set anything up for her.

The Oscar-nominated star, 53, shared that she was willing to re-collab with her team when she was told that it would be in her best interest to have “another Cookie show.”
