Suzanne Somers passes away at the age of 76 on October 15.
The news were confirmed by her longtime publicist R. Couri Hay. In a statement shared with Us Weekly, “Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years.” During her last moments, she was surrounded by her loved ones including her husband Alan, son Bruce, and her immediate family.
She would have turned 77 on October 16, Monday, and her family plans to “celebrate her extraordinary life.” They thanked the millions of fans who loved her dearly and the statement concluded with saying that “a private family burial will take place this week, with a memorial to follow next month.”
It was announced by her husband Alan Hamel that her cancer has recurred.
“Suzanne has lived with cancer all her life,” Hamel, 87, told Page Six in July. He noted that she had “two hyperplasia” in her 20s, which were described as waiting room for cancer.
He had added that they have decided “to put work on the back burner for now and focus on her health.”
