Stephen Colbert suffers from ruptured appendix: Late show cancelled

Late night host Stephen Colbert is recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix, said on Monday. ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’, which airs on CBS, was cancelled for this, as the host recovers from medical emergency.

Colbert confirmed it in a social media that he has been recovering from a surgery for ruptured appendix. In the post, he also thanked his doctors for care, and his wife Evie and their kids for putting up with him. “Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.”

A ruptured appendix, also known as a burst appendix, spreads infection throughout the abdomen, a condition called peritonitis. The condition can be life threatening and it require immediate surgery to remove the appendix and clean the cavity.

Colbert has been hosting ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ since 2015. Earlier, from 2004 to 2014, he was the host of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report.”

For Monday night, there was no new show scheduled, but Colbert was set to feature Jennifer Garner, director Baz Luhrmann and guitarist John Scofield on Tuesday. He had Patrick Stewart and Jon Bastite for Wednesday, and Barbra Streisand and Kelsey Grammer for Thursday.
