Saturday Night Live pays tribute to Matthew Perry hours after his death

The entertainment continues to mourn the demise of beloved actor Matthew Perry, who died on Saturday night at the age of 54.

According to multiple outlets, Perry died of apparent drowning at his Los Angeles home. Following that evening, Saturday Night Live paid a tribute to the actor with him name appearing alongside a black and white portrait of him.

Perry, popular for playing the character of award Chandler Bing in hit TV series FRIENDS, hosted SNL on October 4, 1997, at the height of his Must See TV sitcom’s fame and following his lead man turn opposite Salma Hayek in Fools Rush In.

This weekend’s SNL was hosted by Nate Bargatze with musical guest the Foo Fighters.

Perry’s episode of SNL inlcuded a FRIENDS parody wherein he played the character of Matt LeBlanc, Joey, and the cast member Colin Quinn played Chandler.
