S.W.A.T. Season 7: Is there any latest update?

Once upon a time, CBS’ S.W.A.T. was initially slated to conclude with its sixth season. However, thanks to a reconsideration by the executive producers, the show received a green light for a seventh season. This unexpected turn of events left fans pleasantly surprised and eagerly anticipating more.

For those unfamiliar, S.W.A.T. is an American police procedural television series centered around Los Angeles Police Department Sergeant Daniel Harrelson and his specialized unit.

Since its premiere in 2017, the procedural drama has captivated audiences for nearly six years. It would have been set to unveil its seventh installment this year if not for the disruptive strikes. The WGA, or Writers Guild of America, initiated their strike in May 2023. Initially, many production houses believed it would subside within a few weeks. However, it persisted for nearly five months and was later joined by the SAG-AFTRA, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, in July.

Consequently, the production schedules for both broadcast television and OTT entertainment were indefinitely postponed, leaving viewers disheartened with little hope of their favorite shows or movies premiering in 2024.

In the midst of this uncertainty, a glimmer of hope emerged. On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, it was officially announced that the WGA strike had come to a close following successful negotiations between the involved parties. This promising development signals the imminent resumption of production schedules. The question on fans’ minds now is whether S.W.A.T. Season 7 will soon make its debut on CBS.

As of now, here is what we know about it.

S.W.A.T. Season 7: When can we expect it to arrive on CBS?

With the strikes extending into August and a significant portion of September, the usual fall schedule for broadcast television has been completely upended. Anticipating the seventh instalment of S.W.A.T. this autumn might be akin to chasing after a will o’ the wisp! However, now that the writers’ strike has concluded, we can expect the cameras to start rolling in due course.

According to Deadline, network executives have indicated that it will take approximately eight to 10 weeks before drama productions kick-off. While it may seem like a considerable span of time, it’s a step in the right direction.

Yet, it’s important to remember that the actors’ strike is still ongoing. Even if scripts are ready at the end of this 10-week period, the premiere date could be further delayed if negotiations with the actors’ union do not progress successfully. With this information in mind, it’s reasonable to assume that S.W.A.T. Season 7 is likely to make its debut on CBS in 2024.

In the interim, viewers can catch up on previous seasons by streaming them on Netflix. The show is available for streaming in six countries, including the US, Canada, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Turkey.
