Prince William explained why Kate Middleton did not travel with him on his visit to Singapore.
In his speech on Monday, William explained that his wife could not be with him due to a rather important family reason: Prince George’s schooling.
“Catherine is very sorry she can’t be here,” said the Prince of Wales, 41. “She is helping George through his first set of major exams.”
It was earlier confirmed by Kensington Palace that Prince William will be traveling to Singapore solo due to his son’s exams. This marks that first time that Princess Kate will miss Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, which she has attended for the last two years – in London for the inaugural event and later in Boston in 2022.
The Earthshot Prize was introduced by Prince William in 2020, with an intention to promote impactful approaches to the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges. He plans on to continue awarding the prize until 2030.
The royal couple had last visited Singapore eleven years ago. He mentioned in his Monday speech, that the trip had been “a memorable” one. On that occasion, the Prince and Princess of Wales had visited the country on behalf of their late grandmother Queen Elizabeth during her Diamond Jubilee year.
