The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Oshi no Ko anime series made an announcement regarding Pieyon’s upcoming appearance on Oshi no Ko’s YouTube Channel. Starting in 2024, the show will introduce new episodes every month, and fans will have a chance to influence the content by submitting requests for Pieyon’s activities. Additionally, the live-action version of Pieyon teased his upcoming series in a short promotional video.
Pieyon is a well-known character within the Oshi no Ko universe, having appeared in both the manga series created by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, as well as Doga Kobo’s anime adaptation. In the story, Pieyon is a fitness enthusiast and former YouTuber who became a TV personality associated with the same production company managing Ai’s idol group, B-Komachi. He is often sought out by Ichigo Production to mentor aspiring talents in physical training and personal branding. Pieyon is periodically featured on Oshi no Ko’s YouTube Channel, engaging in activities like promoting future events or performing his famous “boot dance.”
The original Oshi no Ko manga follows the story of Gorou Amemiya, a music-loving gynecologist who unexpectedly finds himself reincarnated as Aquamarine, the son of his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino. The series delves into the challenges faced by idols within the Japanese idol industry. Following the success of Doga Kobo’s anime adaptation, the manga skyrocketed in popularity, topping manga sales charts for 2023 and becoming the second most popular title on BookWalker, Kadokawa’s global e-book platform.
Exciting developments await Oshi no Ko fans, as Doga Kobo confirmed the production of Season 2 shortly after the anime’s first season concluded. The studio released an official teaser in November, confirming the second season’s debut in 2024. Although the manga’s story is ongoing, Aka Akasaka revealed earlier this year that an ending had been decided and was within sight. The latest chapter was released on Dec. 20, 2023.
Pieyon’s YouTube program is set to premiere next year, while the Oshi no Ko anime can be streamed on HIDIVE.
