On Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 12 a.m. PT/4 p.m. JST, the first season of One Piece debuted on Netflix. It introduced us to Monkey D. Luffy (Iaki Godoy), a teenage boy with rubber skin who aspires to rule the pirates. A motley gang of misfits, including Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Sanji (Taz Skylar), joins Luffy as he conquers the sea. In quest of the elusive One Piece treasure, Luffy and his crew, who go by the name of the Straw Hats, travel from island to island. Naturally, no adventure is trouble-free. The Straw Hats’ opponents on their mission are fearsome foes that prevent them from winning the money.
The cast members that make up One Piece’s major ensemble include Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorel’s Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala. The show was made by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix in collaboration with Shueisha. With Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements joining Oda as executive producers, Matt Owens and Steven Maeda serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners.

This fantasy adventure drama series has eight episodes in its first season, each of which lasts between 49 and 63 minutes. Episode 1: Romance Dawn: Stranded on a sinking boat, carefree Luffy begins his journey in search of a pirate king’s lost treasure. But first, he’ll need a crew, a ship, and a map.
Episode 2: The Man In The Straw Hat: After securing a map to the Grand Line, Luffy, Nami, and Zoro are taken hostage by a no-nonsense clown. New cadet Koby is cornered by Vice-Admiral Garp.
Episode 3: Tell No Tales: In need of a proper ship, the gang reaches Syrup Village and meets the cheerful Usopp and his best friend Kaya. A sinister threat disrupts their plans.
Episode 4: The Pirates Are Coming: With his friends in danger and Klahadore’s plan in motion, Usopp seeks help from the Marines. Blades clash when a fierce battle erupts at Kaya’s mansion.
Episode 5: Eat At Baratie!: The Straw Hat Pirates face their first adversary as a group. At a floating fish house, Luffy befriends a cook, and Zoro enters a duel with a warlord.
Episode 6: The Chef And The Chore Boy: Sanji and head chef Zeff put their differences aside to save a severely wounded Zoro. A ruthless fisherman on a mission stirs up trouble for the crew.
Episode 7: The Girl With The Sawfish Tattoo: After striking a deal with a familiar foe to find Arlong, Luffy and his friends set sail for Coco Village and learn about Nami’s mysterious past.
Episode 8: Worst In The East: The Straw Hat crew strives to take down Arlong and the Fishmen once and for all. After a tense family reunion, Luffy inches closer to his dreams.
