Mark Hamill, renowned for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, recently acknowledged the incredible contributions of his stunt double, Colin Skeaping, in the making of “The Empire Strikes Back.” In a series of tweets, Hamill praised Skeaping for executing an expert flip out of a window during a crucial scene in the film, where Luke engages in a fierce duel with Darth Vader in Cloud City.
Hamill specifically credited Skeaping for the stunt, noting that the stunt double not only performed the impressive flip out of the window but also taught Hamill how to execute the move, with assistance from a springboard. However, due to concerns from insurance professionals, Hamill wasn’t allowed to perform the maneuver himself.
Despite the limitations, Hamill revealed that he was able to execute one of Luke’s memorable stunts in the film without the assistance of Skeaping. He shared a photo showcasing his one-handed handstand, emphasizing that this particular stunt was indeed performed by him, though he admitted to using a harness for added safety.
The acknowledgment of Colin Skeaping’s pivotal contributions and Hamill’s attempt to replicate some of Luke Skywalker’s acrobatics behind the scenes offered fans a glimpse into the collaborative efforts that brought the iconic Star Wars moments to life on screen.
