Kareem Abdul-Jaffar rushed to hospital post suffering ‘accidental fall’


Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was rushed to hospital after he broke his hip in a fall that took place on December 15, Friday.

Deborah Morales, Kareem’s longtime business manager, said, “Last night, while attending a concert, Kareem had an accidental fall and broke his hip.” In his post on X, formerly known as Twitter, she also mentioned, “He will have surgery today.”

Expressing gratitude towards the Los Angeles Fire Department, Deborah added that everyone was “deeply appreciative” of their support, as they assisted Kareem on site. She also praised the “amazing medical team and doctors at UCLA Hospital who are taking great care” of the former athlete.


Kareem, 76, was drafted to the NBA as a center for the Milwaukee Bucks, where he played from 1969 to 1975. The basketball star later moved to Los Angeles Lakers, where he played from 1975 to 1989, ending his 20-year-old playing career.

Post his tenure as an NBA star, Kareem remained among the notable names in the world of basketball.
