On Monday, Jonathan Majors was convicted of assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbaria, after a trial he hoped would vindicate him and restore his status of an emerging Hollywood star. However, the verdict did just opposite as Marvel Studios and the Walt Disney Co. dropped him hours after the court’s judgement.

A Manhattan jury found him guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation stemming from his March confrontation with then-girlfriend Grace. She had accused Jonathan of attacking her in the car and leaving her in “excruciating” pain; his lawyers argued that alleged victim was the aggressor.

However, the actor was acquitted of a different assault charge and of aggravated harassment. He did not show any reaction when the verdict was read out and also refrained from commenting as he made his way out of the courthouse with wife Meagan Good, who was seen holding onto his hand.
