Israeli military says Gazans are still allowed to evacuate south

The Israeli military said on Saturday that it will allow Gazans to evacuate South as hundreds of thousands of the civilians have already moved, as its troops readied for a group assault on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in retaliation for unprecedented attacks.

Israel has vowed to annihilate the Hamas militant group after it took the nation by surprise as they launched rocket attacks and also infiltrated the southern territory of Israel, last Saturday. The attack on Israel, has been condemned as the worst in the last 50 years, which included shooting men and women and also abducting hostages.

Some 1,300 people were killed in the unexpected onslaught, and graphic mobile phone video footage and reports from medical and emergency services of atrocities in the overrun towns.

Israel responded by subjecting Gaza to the most lethal bombardment it has ever seen. It also ordered a total siege of the small enclave, which is home to 2.3 million Palestinians, destroying most of its infrastructure.
