Israel says second hostage found dead near Gaza’s Al Shifa hospital

A funeral was held in Israel on Friday for Noa Marciano, an Israeli soldier who was taken hostage by Hamas terror group post their attack on October 7. The 19-year-old was discovered dead near Al-Shifa hospital complex in Gaza this week, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said. On Thursday, another hostage’s body, Yehudit Weiss, 65, was found near the same hospital, as per IDF.

“The national task before our eyes is to locate the missing and return the abducted persons home,” stated IDF in a statement. It added that there won’t be any ceasefire, until their mission is completed.

The military shared that targeted intelligence allowed them to locate the exact location of Marciano’s body.

The IDF claims that Hamas has a base underneath the city’s largest hospital, Al Shifa. Their claims are supported by U.S., citing their intelligence.

Israel has indicated that it could expand its operations inside Gaza further south, where hundreds of thousands of civilians from the north have fled after being told to evacuate for safety. The officials have renewed their order as they dropped leaflets on city of Khan Younis, warning the residents to move away from the fight zone.
