Israel – Hamas truce deal extended: Qatar confirms

Qatar has just announced that the truce agreement between Hamas and Israel has been extended by two additional days, as reported by BBC.

The truce had been due to expire after today. Qatar has been mediating the talks between both the parties.

The terms of the new deal would be shared soon. As per the reports, Israel was willing to extend the truce if Hamas had agreed of releasing ten hostages daily.

As per the terms of the current deal, which was due to end today, the Palestinian militant group was required to free at least 50 Israeli hostages in return for 150 Palestinian prisoners being released by Israel. Both the sides had prioritised women and children.

The attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, had abducted at least 250 Israeli people from the southern part of the country. Among the hostages also lie some foreign nationals.
