Israel confirms release of 39 Palestinian prisoners


Israel prison service has confirmed that it has freed 39 Palestinian prisoners.

They are being released a part of the deal, in return for 14 Israeli hostages and three foreign nationals freed from Gaza today on third day of four-day truce signed between Israel and Hamas.

The temporary truce deal which began on Friday was mediated by Qatar after much negotiations from either sides.


Earlier, on the second day of the truce, Hamas had said that they will be delaying the release as they complained of the selection of Palestinian prisoners released by Israel and also the humanitarian aid which was allowed in the enclaved Gaza.

The excitement among the people quickly turned into tensions as the people in Tel Aviv came down into tears. Fortunately, the exchange of hostages for prisoners was successfully carried on the same day.

As of the day when truce began, Gaza health ministry had claimed that up till then 14,500 people were killed, 2/3rd of which were children and women.

Hamas had attacked the southern part of Israel on October 7 and had abducted at least 250 of its people.
