Palestinian terror group has a “clear presence” in all Gaza hospitals, said Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, head of the IDF Southern Command, on Friday.
Finkelman carried out an assessment at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, and told the troops, “We see the presence of Hamas in all hospitals, it is a clear presence.” He added that the militants have been making cynical use of the hospitals such as Al-Shifa.
Over the past few days, the Israeli military has uncovered an entrance to the tunnel of Hamas and a cache of weapons, in addition to other findings.
The IDF on Friday released new pictures of the tunnel featuring the shaft found in the hospital complex.
IDF spokesperson Rear Adm.. Daniel Hagari said at a press briefing that troops have found additional infrastructure at Shifa hospital, and are currently continuing with the search operation in the complex looking for any leads on the hostages.
The update came 48 hours after the Israeli army entered the city’s largest hospital, with claims that there sits Hamas’ base underneath the hospital.
Over the past day, the military also shared that it has recovered the bodies of Israel hostages abducted by the Hamas militants from the area of Shifa hospital.
