New York Republican Representative George Santos is facing a new motion to expel him from the House after the chamber’s Ethics Committee issued a shocking reports regarding the actions of the freshman congressman.
The report claimed that the 35-year-old has violated ethics guidelines, the rules of the House and criminal laws, and added that he was aware of crossing the line.
GOP Rep. Michael Guest, chairman of House Ethics panel, filed the motion on Friday. The chamber can take up on the motion on November 28 following the return of lawmakers from Thanksgiving recess.
He claimed that he is the victim of “dirty” politics after announcing that he won’t seek re-election in 2024.
Santos took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that he will not be seeking “a second term in 2024” as his family deserves better than to be under the pressure from media at all times.
He added that he has suffered a “year from hell” and has been an victim of “poison” from the ethics committee.
