Senator Dianne Feinstein, the oldest member so the U.S. Senate, who served for three long decades, passed away at the age of 90, as confirmed by two sources familiar with matter.

Her passing marks an end to era as she her political career had spanned over half a century and was studded with major legislative achievements on issues including gun control and the environment.

Feinstein, a Democrat had planned to retire from politics at the end of her current term in 2024.
