Controversy around Gumball voice actor Nicolas Cantu and YouTuber Dream!

Unexpectedly, let’s delve into the recent interactions between voice actor Nicolas Cantu and the renowned YouTuber Dream, accompanied by a peek into the perplexing situation featuring Leonardo from the Ninja Turtles saying some disconcerting things this week.

To begin, Dream, also known as Clay, is a 24-year-old American content creator with a colossal fan base exceeding 40 million subscribers across his various YouTube channels. Renowned for producing Minecraft content and occasionally releasing music, Dream was previously recognized for wearing a mask during his online appearances, although he has now reduced its usage.

Turning our attention to Cantu, a 20-year-old former child star and burgeoning internet sensation. His career highlights encompass taking on the role of the main character in The Amazing World of Gumball in 2017 and more recently, lending his voice to Leonardo in 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Cantu’s remarkable talent has earned him nominations for both Annie and Young Artist awards, and his YouTube persona “junky janker” boasts nearly half a million dedicated followers.

While Dream and Cantu had a cordial relationship in the past, recent accusations of Dream grooming members of his fan base have stirred discord between the two Generation Z icons. In a response to a parody Twitter account associated with Dream on November 15, 2023, Cantu referred to Dream as “an actual pedophile,” igniting further tension.

Subsequently, Dream retaliated by sharing a video allegedly showing Cantu in an Uber, seemingly under the influence, making threats and using derogatory language, including homophobic and ableist slurs. The video depicted Cantu boasting about his grandeur, comparing others to “ants,” and making self-aggrandizing remarks about his supposed invincibility. This video contains explicit language and content.

Additionally, Dream claimed that Cantu had previously physically assaulted him and attempted to do so again on the night in question. Cantu responded, acknowledging a physical altercation but described it as “slapboxing.” He attributed his rudeness towards the Uber driver to his impaired state, emphasizing that he had generously tipped the driver and acknowledged the need to curtail his drinking habits following the incident. Dream countered by presenting alleged text screenshots from the Uber driver claiming that Cantu had not tipped him.

This heated exchange continued on social media with both sides making accusations and exchanging unkind words. Amidst the turmoil, many have rallied behind Cantu, accusing Dream of a deliberate attempt to sabotage his career and laying blame on Dream for allowing Cantu to consume alcohol.

Dream has offered a response to the allegations, asserting that Cantu used a fake ID to drink despite being underage. He also stated that he had never met Cantu before that night and produced the video in response to Cantu’s request.

As of now, representatives for Cantu have not released any statements regarding the feud or the potential repercussions of the contentious video footage on his career moving forward.
