Breakthrough Game Achieves Top Ratings on Xbox Series X/S for 2023!

Alan Wake 2 has emerged as the highest-rated Xbox Series X/S title of the year, receiving widespread acclaim from fans who eagerly awaited a sequel after a 13-year wait. Metacritic’s scoring system places it among the best Xbox games in recent history. Critics have lauded the game’s dark atmosphere and style, deeming it a worthy continuation of the franchise. However, some reviews have raised concerns about technical issues and certain aspects of gameplay that may require further development.

At present, Alan Wake 2 boasts an impressive score of 95 on Metacritic for the Xbox Series X, putting it in close competition with the highly acclaimed Elden Ring, which holds a slightly higher score of 96. It’s important to note that this score is based on a relatively small sample size of only four reviews for the Xbox platform, including one perfect score, two 95s, and one 90. This limited number of reviews explains the game’s remarkable score for Xbox, especially when compared to its scores of 89 for the PS5 and 91 for PC. It’s worth noting that the score may fluctuate with the addition of more reviews, potentially impacting its overall rating.

In terms of 2023 Xbox releases, Alan Wake 2 stands out significantly, outperforming most other titles by a considerable margin. The Complete Edition of The Witcher 3, with a score of 94, comes closest, though it’s important to consider that this is a remastered version of a game from 2015 with a relatively small number of reviews. Following closely are Resident Evil 4 and Diablo 4, both with scores of 91, followed by Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Street Fighter 6, both with scores of 90.

While Alan Wake 2 currently offers free DLCs and an upcoming paid expansion, the possibility of a sequel remains uncertain. Director Sam Lake recently hinted at a new, unrelated project—a “crazy, huge budget, dark gothic fantasy” title, a departure from Remedy Entertainment’s previous work. This potential endeavor holds intriguing prospects for fans and the gaming community at large.
