President Joe Biden has reportedly apologised to some prominent Muslim – American leaders for publicly questioning the Palestinian death toll reported by Hamas – controlled Gaza Health ministry.

Biden huddled with five Muslim American leaders the day after his October 25 comments, which had riled up the Islamic community, vowing to “do better.”

During the meeting, which was scheduled to last for around 30 minutes but eventually ended up being twice as long, the president heard the leaders describe individuals they knew who were personally affected by the conflict.

“I’m sorry. I’m disappointed in myself,” said Biden, as per the reports by Washington Post.

A day before, during a press conference, Biden had openly questioned the accuracy of the number of casualties reported by Gaza Health Ministry, considering the Hamas’ terror activities.

“I have no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed,” said Biden. He added that he is aware of the innocents being killed as the price of waging war.

More than 14,000 Palestinians have been killed till now, including many women and children.
