Dua Lipa is set to star in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming film, “Argylle,” alongside Henry Cavill, who plays the titular character, Agent Argylle. The movie is based on a spy book series by author Elly Conway, portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard. When Conway’s latest book starts inadvertently predicting real-life spy events, she teams up with a secret agent, played by Sam Rockwell, to evade dangerous adversaries.
Matthew Vaughn expressed his enthusiasm for the project, describing it as a groundbreaking addition to the spy genre, likening it to Ian Fleming’s iconic works of the 50s. The first glimpse of the film was released by Vaughn’s production company, Marv Studios, in March 2022, offering a preview of Cavill, Lipa, and co-star Ariana DeBose. The official trailer followed a year later.
When Will Argylle Release?
“Argylle” is scheduled to hit theaters on February 2, 2024. The star-studded cast also includes Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Sofia Boutella, and Rob Delaney.
The film’s narrative will shift between Conway’s real-life escapades and the adventures of the characters in her book. The trailer, released in September 2023, showcased thrilling action sequences set to songs like “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie and “Suspicious Minds” by Elvis Presley.
“Argylle” is based on a novel of the same name, set to be released on April 1, 2024. The author, Elly Conway, is shrouded in mystery, with speculation about whether Conway is a real person or simply the persona of Howard’s fictional character. The book’s description teases an intense plot involving a Russian magnate’s quest for power and the CIA’s efforts to stop him, with the enigmatic Agent Argylle at the center of the action.
Dua Lipa’s involvement in the film was announced in July 2021, with reports indicating that she will also contribute original music for the title track and score. The combination of an intriguing storyline, a talented cast, and Lipa’s musical contributions promises to make “Argylle” a highly anticipated release in 2024.
