Andre Braugher aka Captain Holt from Brooklyn Nine-Nine passes away at 61

Andre Braugher, who starred in the hit television series ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, died on Monday at the age of 61.

The news of two-time Emmy winning actor’s death was confirmed by his publicist Jennifer Allen to Variety.

The actor was also known for famously starring in ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’, and rose to immense fame with his character of upright Captain Raymond Holt on NBC’s police procedural comedy series ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ from 2013 to 2021. His character was among the fans’ favourite due to his stoic and no-nonsense personality and his deep sense of humanity. His scenes with his co-star Andy Samberg, who was playing Detective Jake Peralta, were always loved by the fans.

He won a lead actor Emmy for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton on NBC’s ‘Homicide: Life on Street’ in 1998. The actor won another Emmy for his performance as a master criminal in FX’s miniseries ‘Thief’.
